Welcome to New York State

Welcome to the OCMEA Website. The Orange County Music Educators Association (OCMEA) is a non-profit professional organization that represents 23 school districts with over 270 members and supports music education throughout Orange County and the Lower Hudson Valley. Throughout the year OCMEA sponsors
The OCMEA Executive Board is constantly reviewing all policies in an attempt to best serve the students and teachers of Orange County. If you have any questions, feel free to contact a board member immediately. If you would like to become more involved in this wonderful organization let somebody know. There is plenty of work to go around.
As the 2009/2010 school year begins I would like to take this opportunity to welcome both returning and new teachers to Orange County. The General Meeting will take place on Thursday, September 10, 4:30PM at Brookside Manor, 2257 Goshen Turnpike, Middletown, NY. Dinner will be provided by OCMEA and a cash bar is available. If this is your first year in Orange County, congratulations! Our organization is full of talented, dedicated musicians and we welcome you.
I would like to highlight some changes that have taken place in the past year.
• All Festival Sign-ups will be done at solochair.com, including elementary chorus. Contact Chris Taborsky (MW) if you have problems registering.
• OCMEA dues will not be raised this year.
• All festivals will have pre-sale tickets, including jazz.
• The Elementary All-County Festival will now have two choruses with a split concert format held at Monroe-Woodbury High School.
• As an organization we are continuing to “go green” by utilizing email as much as possible. Send all questions and concerns to ocmea.email@gmail.com.
• Elementary String Auditions will now have a sight-reading component.
• Any district who does not hand in their all-county music will not be allowed to participate the following year.
• A reminder that students need to attend all rehearsals in their entirety. Please do not tell students or parents that they may leave rehearsal early.

See you at the General Meeting and at the Conference Day on November 3 at Monroe Woodbury High School!
Have a musically rich year.
